It?s a given that you should complete your profiles across all social networks. But Google+ Business pages have pretty in depth profile options that should be completed 100%. The problem that many doctors, physicians, and dentists run into is that they rush through just to get it out of the way and miss key elements.
When compared to a social network like Twitter that just requires a quick bio and a background, Google+ takes a little more time to get set up. Everything from the cover photo to all of the information in the ?About? section should be filled out as much as possible, including keywords related to your practice.
Make sure you put a decent amount of time in your ?Contact Information? section. This is where you want to include relevant keywords, and select the correct categories for your practice. Having this information will help your practice appear higher in Google Maps when people search for your specialization nearby. You should also use this section to talk a little bit about what sets your office apart and why patients should choose you.
Link all of your web properties to your Google+ page as well, including:
- Website URL
- Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
- Blog
- YouTube account
Don?t leave anything out of your Google+ profile. The more information you make available, the better.
Another way to personalize your profile is to update your profile URL. By default, the link to your Google+ page looks something like this: plus.google.com/u/0/1038973??. They aren’t very appealing, nearly impossible to memorize, and aren’t brandable.
Thankfully Google is rolling out their customized URL?s for users now, so you?re not restricted to having a string of random numbers in your profile. The new URL?s are much simpler and look better. For example, our Google+ URL is https://plus.google.com/+Novaadvertising.
